We farmed on top of a ridge overlooking the North Fork. I took a trip back there a few years ago and too my surprise the view from that farm was amazing. Looks right down the river at the back of Dworshak dam and on down the river. Someone had logged the canyon below us an opened up that view since we were there. It would be a million dollar lot if it wasn't up a narrow steep grade (7 miles from Orofino to the farm). Family still talks about the time I rode a kids sled all the way to town. I can't remember why I did it though.

I had relatives in Pierce, Grangeville, Weippe, and Headquarters. Also in Lewiston and Clarkston.

Also had some scattered here and about between towns.

I remember driving around there, looking for the honeymoon spot. I was up on the palouse and all of a sudden that gorge opened up. My jaw hit the floor and I swore I'd have to come back there and explore. Haven't made it there yet, but I still hope to someday.

My father's home as a kid, was a farm on the side of the road, about half-way between Orofino and Pierce. Back then, it was the only farm in the area.

House was kind of an off red, as well as the barn and all outbuildings. It had a big pond easily seen from the road. My brothers and I spent a lot of time exploring the woods to the rear and side of it.

All this reminiscing is making me sad. :(

    Small world indeed!! :rock2:

Never met a person who had been to Idaho at some time or point, and didn't like it.

I do well in winter. Spent 4 yrs. living in Helena, MT. It wasn't all that unusual to get to 30-40 below. Pretty much grew up in Spokane, WA. Definitely four seasons there.

What I can't stand is high humidity. That sucks! :nofunny:

Speaking of winter in the Spokane/pullman area. Snow, yes, real snow this morning, mixed with rain at my level but it was about 70-80% snow and turned the ground white for a bit. It's still way early for the first snow.Had to slow way down due to visibility on way to town at 6:30am. Gurus are saying 'good chance of "normal" weather' this year. "Normal" in this area can be a real b***h.

I guess that all depends on what you are expecting.

Kind of like S. CA. and N. CA. I suppose. If I were to move to CA., it would have to be the northern part of the state.

Well, we're in MT. Roads and weather was perfect. Saw some snow in Idaho, but not on the roads.

Clear blue skies and not a cloud to be seen since leaving AZ. Conditions couldn't have been any better.

Now, if it will just continue thru next weekend.

If we were going thru Billings, I'd be more than happy to.

From Helena, we go thru Butte, stop for gas, and then head south.

The good weather is supposed to hold thru next Sunday, the day we head back.
