I noticed a fungus growing the other day on the branch of a Cherry Blossom I have in my backyard. It's right at the end of a branch I had to prune back a couple years ago. I had sealed it, which after further reading, sounds like it might not have been the best idea because of the moisture it traps. Is there any chance to treat it, or is my best bet to just prune it back further. If it's possible, I'd like to not prune it as I would lose another solid branch in the process. Any additional info, such as identifying the type of fungus, would be greatly appreciated.

Sapwood rot, I would guess milk tooth, Irpex spp.

Cherries dont seal off wounds well but I would retain the branch and monitor for now.
