I am trying to identify a tree that is growing wild on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Most think it is wisteria but I was told it is called paloma but cannot find any listing with that spelling. These trees grow quite large and seem to be scattered thru the woods.

Could it be a Paulownia? If you provide a description of the leaves, bark, fruit, flowers, etc. maybe we can identify it. Paulownia tomentosa is also known as Pricess-Tree or Empress-Tree.

If they are in bloom right now, upright purple flowers, then it is Paulownia. They grow like weeds around here but I personally like them. They are very valuable too, don't know if the asian market is back up yet but this time of year you will start to hear of people stealing them!
