Tree Identification

[VA GIRL]

A new resident of Connecticut with a wooded lot. Trees are beautiful- but I am plagued by these pesky string like things falling from the trees. They are app. 3-4" long and have small blooms/seeds on them. What kind of trees are depositing these blooms? Will it ever cease as the season progresses?

They are mostly a nusiance- tracking them into the house. I think my grandfather used to call these "junk" trees. Help!!

Sounds like maple keys to me - they won't last long - they only seed once a year. If I'm wrong about the maple, the second and third parts still apply.

Sounds like Oak flowers, they should be over pretty soon. Amazing how much of that stuff they put out.
