I am looking for help in deciding which tree will be the right one for the spot I have here in Zone 4.
I have a neighbor to the North that has a large two story addition that I'd like to block with a tree or shrub.
In both photos is a red star. That is my ideal location as it should block the most of the neighbor's garage while keeping the green rectangle open as a trailer pathway.
What tree would you recommend that I can plant fairly close to the garage, yet can be trimmed where I can walk under it, and is tall enough to block 2 stories?qqq.png

I don't love the look of arborvitae trees, but that may be the best tree to fit the bill - but it won't look good to trim under it.

They tolerate a wide variety of soils...but what is your soil like?

A few others to look into:

Frans fontaine hornbeam.

Regal prince oak.

Vanessa Persian Parrotia probably gets a little too wide, but a great tree.
