Looking at getting a unlimited ignition module for a 390xp. Is worth going to the unlimited ignition module over the factory 13000 module?

Thanks doug

The main advantage is ease of tuning, this lets you dial in the saw easier, but you won't really gain power. I know some like the coils from the 372xt that is limited to 13,300. The NE346 14,100 coil has a nice ignition curve and a stock 390 won't want to turn that many RPM anyway, that's what I recomend. And obviously the black non limited coils work well too, just don't rev the saw crazy without load. The 346 coil has a slightly different profile for the smaller flywheel, but it work perfectly fine. Stay away from the cheap AM coils.

Who.makes the NE346? Is that a husqvarna coil? Any experience with the black module from Baileys?

Yes the 544 047 101 coil is an unlimited coil that is perfect for the saw, I thought they quit making them, guess I was wrong. Pretty much all those black coils will work, even the ones for 346, 357 and so on. Yes the 346 is a Husqvarna saw, the later model known as the New Edition came with a blue coil that was limited to 14,100 rpm, it works well on the 390. EBay is a good source for all of these coils new and used, just make sure to get OEM and not aftermarket, most that pop up on EBay are aftermarket, so make sure it's OEM.
