finding several quarts of dried frass, color of sawdust at base of my 75 foot tall water oak.
With binoculars, I see 2 separate large deep holes approx 40 feet up the trunk. 1 hole is large enough to accommodate a raccoon or possum. In any case there must be large hollow trunk damage and now bugs are hatched and feasting.
Upper branches are all green. thinking I should remove tree before next hurricane or would chemical spray stop bugs. I think tree may already h
