I just thought I'd follow up to my original post.

Three weeks ago I went and dropped the coin for a Timberwolf TW-P1 with four-way wedge and table grate. I brought it home at 6 pm on a Saturday, split half a cord that night, split six cords on Sunday, and have since split about 5-6 more cords of some of the knottiest, nastiest stuff I've ever dealt with. I used to let stuff like this sit in the woods and rot rather than attempt to whittle it down to size. I could not stop this machine, and what it didn't flat-out split, it literally cut through sideways.

So not only am I a very happy Timberwolf owner, I now look forward more than ever to "firewood" days - I am definitely going to encourage my boys to split and sell a couple cords apiece to have some spending money.
