A chunk of the trunk is missing on the left side and the roots are above ground. Should I dig it up and plant it deeper? I saw ants all over the trunk last winter so that is why the trunk is missing. Some family members I asked said to cover it all up with miracle gro dirt and one of them did.

Keep your palm properly mulched, it should recover from the root injury and die back.
Yellow fronds with dead tips are an indication of soil deficiencies. Get a soil test done.

Thanks for the response. I added ant stakes, compost and mulch. Hoping it will get healthy.
