I see on ebay.com a secondhand oem crank for 60 or offers, that might be a decent start.
I'm starting to think the main bearing cages may have let go and that is what has caused the shrapnel damage and allowed the rod to rub the crank web.

Thanks everyone for all the help and guidance! Think I'm gonna strip it down completely and have a look for anything that might have caused the damage to the top end. Then we'll be able to see what really needs replacing as well.

The rod doesn't have any up and down play which is good. I do see what you mean how it looks like it's been rubbing though.
I'll let you know when I get into it.

You may find out the crank is ok and the damage to the lobe has been when someone was struggling to get the piston off the piston pin and barred it off. Good luck. I'm just about to pay for a 353G off fleabay UK. I hope it is as good as it looks.

Buy cheap to leave some wiggle room for the repairs. But if we don’t we could hit a point of no return and have so much into it the resale value is gone.

So good news on the cylinder situation. I've found a guy with 3 cylinders and also a crank. 2 oem and 1 basically brand new meteor. I know the pics aren't great but here's what we've got.

Yeah I noticed that and he pointed it out. Would it cause problems?
Very likely to cause problems, if you can feel it protruding past the edge of the cylinder into the swept area it will produce a mark on the piston similar to the one that came with the saw.
The port edges need to be perfect, no irregularities in them or they will cause damage to the piston and rings.

Thanks man! I'll try get some more info on the other oem he's got.

I recon by the end you can be well on your way to the price of a brand new Dolkita 6100. A helluva saw for the price.

So the original cylinder that came with the saw is toast, cannot be cleaned up and used?
The bearings in the original crank are showing wear/slop/movement?

Sure, buy an OEM cylinder for a spare and the crank is probably a good move- but it is a lot more to replace a crank than a piston for your first time saw mechanicing.
Thing is, unless it is a trusted seller, you can pick the good from the bad from average photos and descriptions- you still run the risk of adding to the lemons in the fruit bowl.
