Just recently started milling lumber with chainsaw mill and still learning tree species....any help identifying this slab would be appreciated. Freshly cut about 2 hours ago.20190213_172920.jpg 20190213_173003.jpg

I have no business even guessing - I'm on the west coast. BUT! Seeing how NO ONE has even tried, I'll venture an answer: Sweet Gum. A photo leaves out so much - the smell, the harness and heaviness of the wood. I'm guessing it could be lots of other woods, I thought about silver maple, thought about butternut. But hey! It looks like you did a great job of milling this and that's 90% of the battle. Bests of luck to you - sorry you've gotten no responses in over a month - maybe this will get an expert to correct me. How's the milling going?

Here are a couple slabs known to be sweet gum, note the lower one also has some spalting on it.
