Run out to your local farm store, or whatever is the local version there of, and gram some universal Hyd oil. something around 15W will be fine.
Next idea is plain old Dexron ATF that you use in your vehicle.
Whale oil is getting kinda pricey. Sheez I bet plain old 10W40 motor oil would work.
