It was cut by my uncles on his farm. The family lives there for hundreds of years and he said he never saw a tree like that

It is definitely hard wood. Could it be a young branch of a red oak tree? We do not have a lot of oak trees around here...

The end doesn't look like red oak. How long has this piece been cut? I'm surprised to see how cracked it it.

It was cut in autumn 2017 but keep inside my uncles house. He brought the piece at a family reunion because he wanted to know if anyone in the family had seen this kind of tree before.

Could it be a young branch of a white oak tree?

could be bitternut hickory. Maybe because it is a young tree there was no fruits in it. The horizontal lines on the bark is another characteristic to identify it
