I boil my deer heart in saltwater with a few bay leaves. Slice it up and cut off any fat. Salt lightly. Great hot or cold.

Heart and mayo sandwiches in the deer stand are the bomb.

My favorite hearts are chicken, cooked brazilian style, very tasty, so much better than any other hearts I've had. I've tried to make them myself but they never come out right. I need to find another brazilian girlfriend to cook them for me, lol.

I'm gonna have to try this. Bay leaves always add a great flavor to boiled/stewed meats.

    Brazilian style? Please explain.

Try Braziliancupid dot com. A former coworker married a gal from there lol. Granted he's a train wreck but you could find love.

Best part of the whole deer. I'd take it over tenderloin!

Not as good as deer heart, but I had stuffed mild Italian sausage links with fresh pulled turnips and sweet potatoes.
Sliced heart with gravy and onions! Hmmm, good!

    edit ( CUPID ) ???

Turned the last of the venison steaks into stew tonight. Doing a roast tomorrow then I'm on to 15 lbs of burger.

You all normally have a Thanksgiving meal for dinner or supper?

We normally eat dinner around 2-3. This year it was later because my wife and older kids volunteered at the turkey feed and we ate when they were done. I got to watch our youngest because she was a few months below the minimum age to volunteer.

In the area of noon - 3 is when I eat dinner as well usually. Supper when I get home from the shop, which might be around 7 or could be midnight.

Found some pretty good smoked andouille sausage the other day. I made up some venison/pork chili and then put sliced andouille in it and topped it with cheese and fried onions and sweet peppers. Good stuff.

Next week I am going to cook up a bunch of zuchinni and summer squash with onions in my big cast iron pan and then throw in sliced andouille and shrimp.

Apple Pie and some for breakfast with some coffee. I have been so busy getting ready for last minute wood customers that I have put off picking apples. Just before Thanksgiving went to my favorite tree only to discover was already attacked by predators so went to my next trees to find that with the high winds the apples were falling off on the ground. So was able to score about seventy five pounds in just a few hours. I just finished making ten pies for gifts now the rest are mine. So good when they first come out of the oven. By Christmas I will have eaten them all or gotten a little tired of them. Thanks

The other day I made 4 lbs of meatballs and 4 lbs of chili with half venison and half beef. Have been working away at that for several days and the kids love it even though I can definitely taste the venison.

After this I only have 2 lbs of venison left. May make venison/pork meatballs to ring out the end of the venison until next fall.
