Got this a while ago and parked it in the basement. Not sure if its ever been fueled or not so never tried running it. Cannot find a speck of sawdust anywhere. Muffler, sparkplug, top of piston and fuel tank all look clean. traces of red oil in the bar oil tank. Even the chain looks new. hairline scratch in the air filter cover. Thanks

Brand new those 200's were over $600 (U.S.) Doesn't matter if it is top handle or rear handle. That one is as clean as they come . To the right person at least $400 or more closer to the price of a new one from the dealer . They don't make 200's anymore but they were always a favorite with guy's in the tree business. The top handle version was more popular with the climbers and bucket truck operators. The rear handle also made a good climbing saw if you preferred that version along with being a snappy little ground saw.

Seems like people would rather pay a big price for an old worn out POS than good money for one like that. It is amazing some of the prices I have seen for a POS parts MS200 chainsaw. That is a nice saw you have as the back handle is not as desirable, but would bring good money. I have a like new MS201 as I don't see how one could run any better, but the Non-epa ones will sell better.

Very lightweight, rear handle saw appeals to many for trail use, etc. That saw, especially if they are already using the top handle versions. Nice condition.

Problem selling them was the 'PRO saw' price point. Guys can buy an MS 170 for $180 with a full warranty, or one of the smaller ECHO saws for a similar price. So you are going to have to find 'the right buyer' to get what the MSRP suggests that it is worth. Maybe someone who want to 'convert' it?

Your right Phil but a 170 isn't even in the same league as a 200. The 200 is a much better built and better performing saw than 170 ever could be. Converting one over isn't practical if you have to buy the parts to do the conversion. The top handle version and the rear handle version are basically two different saws ,nothing swaps except the bare bones engine and the AV mounts.

No argument there. But for a guy just looking for a 'lightweight, rear handle saw', it's a hard sell to get what STIHL sold them for.

I had an ECHO CS 305 saw for a little while; lot of fun due to it's light weight.

Any PRO in the business would pay top dollar for them and not blink an eye, they sold for ridiculous money here for many years after they were discontinued, seen plenty of used ones sell for the same price as a new 201T. The demand has leveled off some but a near new 200 either rear handle or top handle would still bring a good sum from the guys in the business that remember them from days past.

It maybe but having a crew slashing alder or black berries I’d choose a cheap little saw I can have a couple of spares for the same money.

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely a specialized tool. Good idea to check what the used rear handle MS201’s go for locally.
I know a climber in Colorado I aint sure what outfit he works for but he said they make him climb with rear handles like that one and the 201, for what its worth.
