What's wrong with this Oak?

Hoping the collective knowledge here can point me in the right direction. WeWhave a tree in our yard that i believe is a Shumard Oak. It looks fairly healthy with the exception of the leaves at the very very end of many branches are starting to curl up and shrivel (see pictures). The home was unoccupied for 9 months or so (Sept. to July) and I'm unsure about the care it received during that time, my first thought is it's needing more water? We've had 100 degree heat down here in Austin TX for about a month now.

Could be drought stress. Any herbicides used in the area it is in. I'e seen liquid broad leaf herbicide effect oaks like that when it volitolized on a hot day.

Good call Jed...the crispy weeds around the edge make that probable.
