Guys. I was thinkin tonight and certain things just aren't adding up. Is there a website I can go to in order to find out the current selling price for board foot lumber? I want to find out for myself how FOS this guy really is. Thanx - Matt.

Use your search engine, treeman. I did that sometime ago, and found lots of info. Most average grade walnut and oak was $400-1000 per mbf. The veneer grade much more. Ask John Lambert, aka gypologger.

Google.com is my favorite.

You also want to be sure and recognize the different methods for reporting prices.

Logs
Stumpage - on the stump, unharvested
Delivered sawlogs-to the sawmill

Hardwood logs have no true standard for grading. The most common method is the US Forest Service grading, High grade (veneer), and 1,2,3 (descending order). This method is based on the quality of lumber expected from each log. Most sawmills use their own grades, though.

No web page for TimberMart North

(This is close to what I've been seeing in Ohio)

In practice stumpage prices are going to vary widely depending on a lot of factors, delivered prices are a better barometer of the overall market.
