You should have cleaned the saw up better before tearing it apart also to keep the crud out of the bottom end.

Cleaning the cyl is one thing but you can't clean scoring of the plating out of it.

I know a lot of guys sand cylinders, but i don't do much of that, too easy to scratch the plating and never will you get a really good ring seal that way.

I'm more of a meratic acid and scotchbrite user.
