It's wood. Probably a hardwood (rather than a conifer). But insufficient info for further comment.
Where was it cut? What does the inside look like when split? How easily does it split?

Kind of a sweet smell, dark core, and splits easy. I’m located in South Carolina, upstate. I’ll try to get some better pictures and post it.

That would be Oak.
Yep, definitely oak. The dead giveaway is the lines radiating out from center when viewed on end.

99% on this one, the generic "water oak" of the south, willow oak, peach oak or maybe a couple of the other evergreen red oak group.

Strictly speaking, when you consider the atomic redistribution of former life forms, Timothy Leary probably lives in all our neighborhoods. (Not to split hairs or anything.)
