Wood Preserving Q - Beautiful Figure in Center of Trunk

I was cutting up an Irma victim today and discovered this lovely figure down near the trunk. Do I have any chance of saving it or is it going to split as it dries ? Thanks for any insight !!

The trunk is about 24" in dia right there and most of the sections I cut out are about 12" thick so I could move them.

Mine crack but,,, I stopped at a shop on the Oregon coast where they make slab tables and other heavy wood items. The owner there told me that he cuts logs at a diagonal to get an elliptical piece because they are less likely crack than a plain cross cut round.
