Cleaned my new Stihl for the first time today and grabbed a Ziptie to use to clean the gunk/sawdust out of the bar and small crevices on the powerhead where the bar mounts and the oil galleries. The rounded flexible tip of the ziptie worked great and won't scratch plastic or steel. I imagine a square cut end would clean the bar groove even better.

i like to use the stihl raker tool edge,to clean bar groves, and use paper clip to clean the holes in bar out.....

Zip tie is good.
My favorite bar groove cleaner is a used reciprocating (Sawzall) blade. Wrap some duct tape around the handle (heat shrink used below). Use the tang to clean out the oil hole.

(I discovered this after extensively modifying a painter's tool for shop use.)

I use old toothbrushes for cleaning the rest of the saw, and wooden popsicle sticks for stubborn gunk: I clip the round ends off to a sharp point using a pair of side cutters.

Compressed air is King.
