My old man last year found this 5000+ at my local trash transfer station. he said the guy flung it off his truck and claimed it to be a POS..he picked it up knowing i have a chainsaw addiction. finally got around to it. she runs but only until she heats up.. it has a crazy gas venting system, that once hot it bubbles gas and turns off..

clutch&drum
so far i replaced the flywheel key (it sheared 2 btw)
put new spark plug
new coil
oil cap
clutch cover had a crack in it, JB weld back together.

anyone have a 5000+ that vents weird?

The symptoms you talk about that I have experienced were normally caused by a leaking crankcase gasket or crack. Between crank throw area and tank. I've had a couple that leaked from the other side of crankcase. Heavy smoker burning bar oil in the crankcase.

you know what, come to think of it while it runs its spews oil out of the exhaust. i figured it was running to rich. this saw’s rpms are off the hook!! fastest saw i have but only runs for a few minutes..

Those 5000+ Partner's are up there with the best 50cc saws ever made. Properly ported, even the mighty 346 ported has its hands full against one.
at one point i said screw it and leaned on her a bit. i’m not a tachometer, but i know i had to be screaming past 13k. what is scary, it felt as if it could go more. makes sense could be having air leak.

Get the air leak fixed and should be able to get a couple more thousand rpm safely. Those truly may be the fastest working 50cc saws when ported.

I have several of the 5000s I also have a new Dolmar 5105 the 5000+ is wwwwaaaayyyy ahead of the Dolmar in all respects as far as I can see. The rpms are higher than most 12,500 14,000 is not uncommon. Compression will be 175 to 185 if all is well with it.
They run super at 200 lbs comp and a muffler mod. I have a couple of 325`s I must get out of their boxes and give them a once over, set squish and check the ports. Might make good limning saws.

I had a ported 325 that would keep up and probably beat with my ported 346.
I had one that just had a muffler mod back in the 80`s and it would beat the heck out of my two 5000+ saws so when I had a chance to buy two new ones I grabbed them but have not removed from their box yet, think it was about 7 years ago I found them. My plans then was to port them but newer saws got in the way, that is what happens when one has over 100 saws to play with.

Love those little buggers...........in red of course......another real nice 490 drifted into the shop a week or two back....haven't had a minute to look at it other than to say it looks in great condition. Performance wise the 590 is way superior.....not exactly the same casting number as the infamous 45cc closed port Husky but will mount up to either. Not sure what the difference is...can't tell by just looking...look identical. Of course I've found the high strung 590 is not as easy to keep running properly as the 490 (5000/5000+)....they really run good.....every 490 I've had you set down idling and walk off and it just idle away until they just run of of fuel. (Thanks again for the 590 Jerry)!!! Love that saw!!
