The saw has a plate riveted on designating it a 610. This is tDSCF2620.JPGhe cover on it when I got it. Looking at it your comment about rubber bumpers they seem to be awol. Here is the cover.

At it again today. picked up a good running p42,a running pDSCF2627.JPG26, a sputtering p26,a parts p26 and a 1074 with ignition problems Cost me 150 plus a 14 inch Poulin elec saw. Also a couple boxes of parts came with the saws. The guy had a very nice p50 Western full wrap with a brand new 36 Pioneer bar and chain on it He said he had the bar for fifteen years from an old retired pioneer dealer. He said it was for show and had no intention of selling i even though I made him a very good offer. Hr has two iel ra,s trying to make one complete He had a 2400 yellow working on it. Until today I had not known of him and him of me Pioneer collectors are every where. 30 miles from me!.

you offering on whole saw or just b/c?
have nos 32 w/pioneer chain
on my 655
lower one has been sold
top is 20"
Thanks but it was not the bar I was after it was the saw.I told him I would take it with a 20 inch bar he had but still no go. Sentinental values to him, not for sale his grand fathers. One of the nicest Pioneers I have viewed that hadn,t been restored. Came from Bella something bc.

Somebody is looking over me. First to reply to a post on face book this am. about four old saws for 100 bucks. The lady accepted my agreement to pay that amount and removed the posting a couple minutes later. The saws were two Homlites, a Remington and a 3071 Pioneer. She had called them part saws in add. I asked her if they were complete in our messaging. and she said yes. Picking them up the first of the week. A hour and a half away.

Made more progress on the weekend. The phenolic material showed up in the mail so I used CA glue to fix it to a mandrel that I could then chuck in the lathe and machined it down to the right dimensions. Just heated the mandrel with a torch and the glue lets go. It worked very well. Then I riveted the post and spring in and its as good as new.

Once that was done I put the back half of the saw onto the motor. I just need to figure out the clutch drum etc. as the one that came on it was very corroded.

It pulls over with lots of compression, thanks to the new rings.

Once it is complete i'll drag out all my other IEL/Pioneer saws and take a "family" photo.

Very nice job

The P26 is back together with a carb upgrade. I had a walbro WA from a Husqvarna 50 and the only thing I had to do was change out the throttle shaft from the Tillotson to get it to fit. A bit hard to get to the high-speed jet, but the low speed is an easy access. I will be plugging the adjustment hole or using some tubing to prevent dust getting sucked in.
It pulls hard with a new piston ring ( thanks Brian) even though it's not broken in yet.IMG_20210512_164509.jpgIMG_20210512_164755.jpgIMG_20210512_164625.jpgIMG_20210512_164639.jpgIMG_20210512_164733.jpg

I am jealous. You do such fine work.

The p26 is finished, and it's a really nice running saw. A good carb makes a world of difference, now it will start on the second pull when it's cold and the first when it's hot.
With the automatic decompression it probably ranks up there as one of the easiest saws to start.
Just a regular points ignition in this saw, but it throws a very strong spark which definitely contributes to it's usability. It runs better than I had expected, so I'm pretty pleased with it, definitely worth the $60 CDN and spare parts laying around that I have in it. A keeper that goes into the collection.
I've had several Pioneer saws now and they've all been pretty good runners. It makes me wonder where Pioneer would be today if they would have stayed in business. As far as used saws go, you could do a lot worse than old Pioneer magnesium.

Making it short. The 3071 she told me was a p50s. The othDSCF2688.JPGDSCF2680.JPGers were Homelites 130 and xl 12 and a Mac 10-10. While I was there she dug out two more and said I could have them also. They were a p26 missing parts and a poulin 4900. She said her husband who had passed years before threw them in an old shed if they screwed up and bought new. While I was loading the saws her neighbour who had been cutting grass came over and asked if I was interested in some more saws all running.A remington pl4. a pioneer p28 and a blue homelite . We settled on 200 plus he added a mac parts saw 56 cc with broken brake. A great day. This morning got the poulin 4900 running. It was a wire fallen off.

Nice haul fxer. Hope you can get that p50 (?) running, the large p series were possibly the best saws Pioneer ever made.
I understand the Remington cylinder is almost identical to the xl-12's, I have an sl-4 which is the later version of the pl-4.
You have enough to keep you busy for awhile.

If I miss a chance to pick up part saws I will kick myself if I need a part later. I have a p50 and p 51 running now with no brakes. Just finished tuning up my p60. I will check it out but in my mind it is spare parts. The running p28 I am not sure yet. Have another better looking p28, runs but not as good as one I got yesterday but have not gone thru it yet.All saws I buy I check and clean fuel system and spark plug but have not did this one. The 4900 poulin am thinking of keeping .Will try it as it is a 77 cc saw. A lot of the others will eventually sell after tune ups and small repairs.

Started stripping a 750 Pioneer down, it's getting a complete rebuild. The flywheel has 1 broken fin, the tank back panel is damaged will need some work then sealed up and the flywheel shroud has a few broken spokes.
What surprised me is the coil has a nice spark and hasn't got a crack in It. The top cover is in very good condition.IMG_1593.jpg
