Champion Power Equipment 27 Ton log splitter?

I bought their 27 ton log splitter from HD a couple years ago and its worked flawlessly until recently. Their customer service sucks and you can't buy any parts from them online.

Now the lower low pressure hose keep blowing off. I called them and there is a conversion hose and fittings available to retro fit. I ordered it after waiting on their customer service line for over an hour.

I receive the package and guess what missing? The lower adapter fitting that screws into the oil filter assembly and then to the hose.

I called again last night and was on hold for 1.5 hrs. Anyone know where I can get parts for this other than from them directly? I'm not having much luck looking for parts on line.

Their part number is PMJ25Y-24 and the only description I have is that its a 135 degree hydraulic fitting. Do they use NPT threading on these?

There's a lot of different kinds of hydraulic fittings. But with the hose and oil filter housing in hand you should be able to figure it out. Or bring those parts into a hydraulic supply place and they''ll find the fitting.

There's a good chance it's NPT.

Thanks, I have the manual, parts list and diagram. I'm looking to buy the part mentioned at a place other than the uncooperative Champion Power equipment.

It's a 3/4" fitting connected to the oil filter assembly. Went to Tractor supply today but they had very few parts.

I take it the original design used a hose barb and hose clamp?

If there is enough pressure to blow the line off, I would guess the filter is plugged up. There really shouldn't be that much pressure there.

As to fittings, your best bet would be a place that makes hoses. Where I live, Napa has a pretty good selection of fittings. McMaster Carr or MSC may also have what you would need.

Thanks. Yes the original fittings are barbed. The hose is heavy ss braided rubber coated.

Been doing some searching and found that Yardworks log splitters are almost identical to Champion!

Found some parts on ebay by searching for the Yardworks part no's. Then they reference the 27 ton champion parts!

Glad you were able to find what you need.

You may want to consider replacing the filter. Hydraulics work on the weakest link concept. Replacing the hose so that it withstands higher pressures may cause something downstream to blow, likely the filter or the aluminum housing....
