I believe I will give up on this saw. I have been in the carb and swapped some diaphrams around. Could get the saw started and while trying to tune the idle it will eventually die and not restart. Thinking it may have a faulty coil.

Oh the benifits of having multiples in a series for swapping, not spending $40+ for a carb or $? for a coil on a saw that will most likely never get used. Oh well....
If you're planning to shelve or scrap the saw I bet someone here would want it, what model is it?
I understand though...who wants to spend $40-50 or whatever for a used coil for a saw that's not worth that much. That's why I have like 6 or 7 of these saws, that's enough parts for maybe 4 running saws, haha

Or all pool together and buy the company! :happybanana:
It's too damn bad the McCulloch brand is now nothing more than a rebranded Husky / Poulan and sold outside the US. Now (to my knowledge) there is no US based chainsaw.
Just imagine if you could still buy a new magnesium case 10-10 with a horizontal cylinder! I feel like those saws still hold their own.

Well fellas.... Attempt #4 with the Mini Mac 25 from Hell...and no dice. The bizarre surging / stumbling on the top end seems to be fixed, but then it flooded, and then after it sat gas leaking out the carb, needle isn't sealing.
But then...a revelation, and I'm about to absolutely lose my friggin head. Examine these 2 diagrams of Walbro MDC carbs from 2 different manuals for fixing Mini Macs.
Notice anything....DIFFERENT????

Take notice of where the metering diaphragm is located in both diagrams.
I've had mine installed wrong the entire time, with the diaphragm closest the carb body, this entire f!#%&# time thanks to the diagram / repair guide I was using.

Mini Mac (not sure exactly which one, see pic) for parts, free but you pay for the ride. Missing air filter and AF cover. The fuel nipple between tank and hose is broken (see pic). P& C look good and tank appears to be intact, no cracks.
PM if interested. Must take it all.

At least you corrected it, and you're now just one step closer to getting the "Mini Mac From Hell" running. :)
I put the carb back together and the inlet needle seems to hold pressure now, so I am guessing that the reversed diaphragm was problem the whole time. I never thought to question the service manual diagram... Un-freakin-believeable!
This all DID help me discover that one of my "bad" coils is perfectly good though!

So is it running as it should now?
Haven't had time to slap it back together yet, work, projects and kids reduces my saw fixing time to minimum haha.
I am very optimistic though, I also need to reinstall the sparkplug wire into the coil, when the gas leaked out the carb it attacked the RTV silicone and the lead was loose. The Mini Mac coil wires just slip on, not a threaded post.
I think I am going to try using Pliobond, it's really neat, stinky stuff that stays pliable, sticks like crazy to rubber and is resistant to solvents like gasoline. It's the best thing to use to fix or make foam air filters.

Fun update...the bad coil appears to be bad again, before I assembled the saw I checked resistance on the coil and getting no reading on the secondary coil. Must be something loose or coming apart inside. Luckily I have another coil I can use...

Mini Mac from Hell.
