Can someone tell me what Stihl models share the same felling spikes? I want to replace the stock one that came with my 462, I'm told some of the "0" series saws and others will work. And if someone has a decent set for sale I will buy them from you!20210918_095501.jpg

The inner spike 1142 664 0500 is used on different models like MS 260, 261, 360, 361 and some others. The outher spike 1142 664 0501 is used on the MS 462 and MS 500i.

1122 664 0501 is the large spike kit, you'll have to clearance the outer spike a little as the cover on the standard cover is slightly different than the wrap model, very easy to do. You also want the roller catcher 1122-650-7700 the stock spike is pathetic.

Perfect! Thank you for this!

I've had no issue running the R style on my 462, I actually like the big lower spike, nice with big thick bark IMHO.[emoji111]
Then you don’t know how to sharpen the chain very well LOL. I’ve taken chains fresh off the grinder with rakers at .025 on a 28 inch bar and it would not cut a frozen beech log. With a dozen guys there watching. Had to hit the dirt with the tip a couple times to dull the chain enough so that it wasn’t grabbing

I probably don't.[emoji22]

But than again I haven't cut frozen anything in a log time, in what I cut I had no issues, I'm light handed and don't really use the felling dawgs much when bucking. To each their own, pick the ones that look like they'll suit your needs best, definitely get the roller catcher though.[emoji869]

I've had the same problem with the R dogs...standard depth gauges grab too much while laying on the dogs because of the leverage.

I just leave my depth gauges higher...I prefer higher depth gauges on felling chains anyway. I don't want the chain grabbing hard while felling. Nice smooth cutting is my preference.

The type of wood has a lot to do with it IMHO. You definitely have a lot more leverage.
