Need P42-sized junk saw for parts.

I want to bring my old P42 back to life for my son to use, and I either need a similar-size junk saw or I just need a bunch of external parts from nearly any P-series saw including:

Starter/ recoil from smaller P-series saw
Igniton (the newer type - not a P41 ignition)
Muffler
Choke and throttle linkages
Trigger assembly
Various screws to put it together

I could likely also use:

Flywheel
Kill switch

I ran this ported little snot for a while a couple of years ago borrowing external parts from a P45, and it was strong and fun.

Thanks

Did you ever find an SDC carb replacement for your big saw?

I supposedly have two of them coming - the second one is for a 655 I built for a guy. I'm getting them through Baileys and it's taking a very long time. Thanks for asking.

I've run my 655 with the bad carb; it's a little bratty about winding up but otherwise runs perfectly. I may end up using the defective carb on the P42 when I get it together.

That's great. Best wishes on the P42

Hi Guys,

I got given on Thursday a Pioneer 750. Now it certainly isn't the cleanest saw I have ever been given but it is a complete saw.
I could see wasp nests inside the muffler so before I tried to turned over the old girl I removed the muffler only to find the exhaust port also full. After a slow and careful clean I could now see the pistion which is in extremely good shape.
Once the wasp nest was cleaned away I could check for spark which is also strong ,bright and blue.

It will need a carby kit put through it and the fuel lines replaced. Could anyone tell me what carby repair kit I will need ?

Cheers
Justin

The Saw should have the OMC carb on it and try Sugar Creek Supply for a Carb Diaphram and Gasket Kit.

Go over to Chainawr.com scroll down left hand collum until you find restoration & decals. You will see a pic of Pioneer OMC Carb and 24.95 price. l do not see a part number their on listing. Here is a pic of mine the last one l ordered .
When I search for 507473155 (Pioneer PN converted to Poulan/Husqvarna) it returns piston rings. Please be careful.

I would strongly advise ordering direct from Sugar Creek Supply in the event there are any issues with the order. They (Joe Salva) can take long enough as it is without throwing Chainsawr into the mix. And if there are any problems or excessive delays, Chainsawr will simply punt to Joe anyway.

I know from personal experience and it was a real pain in the ass.

l could probably help you with all the screws your looking for to complete build your Saw. Let me know if your interested and l will start putting a set together.
Well, I had the time to dig deep in my junk and found nearly all the fasteners I need except for the little screws for the coil. I should be able to get generic ones from the Ace 30 miles from here.

My P42 still needs :
Starter/ recoil
Ignition
Muffler
Throttle and choke linkage
Maybe a flywheel

Appreciate you getting back to me.
