Can someone please explain the Husqvarna website ?

They always show one of each model of saw, then when you click on it, you are given the various guide bar choices to click on, which then shows you the price of that particular saw and bar combo. Nothing difficult to understand about that.

Not that way with the 390XP. When you go to the "pro saw page" they show two distinctly different 390XP saws. One has a low-top air filter cover and the old style fuel and oil caps. The other has a high-top air filter cover and the new style fuel and oil caps.

How do you know which style 390XP you are buying?
For that matter, how do you order a high-top 372XP when there is no distinction between high or low top 372XP saws?
Additionally, if you buy a 390 or 372 with the new style fancy flip-up fuel and oil caps, can you change the fancy caps, and install the old style regular caps instead?

SKU numbers. Go back to the site and check the specifications tab on each saw. I would suspect either saw to come with the flip caps because that is just what Husqvarna uses now. Don't much care what the photo shows. The flip is just a grip, the cap screws into the tank just like they always have.

I didn't even know you could get a low top 390xp, last I looked locally they all had the high top versions on the shelf. The sight also lists out the xpg ad a different model as well, which adds confusion to the mix when going back and forth. If your set on a 390xp I'd hit up @Robin Wood and see what he has.

Thanks Sean.
I'll check out Robin Wood. Also going to visit my local dealers today if all goes well.

As far as I know the only difference on the high top and low top is the filter and cover, rebuilt one the other day and looking through my box of filters I was thinking do I want to make this a high top or a low, only difference is the filter and plastic cover and as far as the G is concerned it just means heated handle grips and carb for colder weather.

Thought the filter elbow was different as well (?) May be I'm thinking of the 395xp....

Robin, Sean referred me to you. Been meaning to contact you on a 390XP, but I've been busy making the rounds to dealer's yesterday, and one more dealer today.
Dealer's here all say $1,199 + tax for a 390XP high-top with a 20" bar and chain. They won't sell just a power head by itself.

That's a good price, about what I paid for mine back in 2014 with a 24" bar out the door.
