Hoped I’d never have to post here but my brothers dump trailer got stolen a couple days ago. It was located near Berthoud, Colorado. Someone broke the lock off the hitch, hooked up to it and left. Unfortunately he didn’t get any pictures of whoever took it and hadn’t got around to putting a gps on it either. He built it himself and did a really nice job on it. It’s a 12 foot long and the axels are slightly wider than normal. If you happen to see this trailer around, this is the only one like it. Any help locating this trailer and the scum who took it would be greatly appreciated.

I live in the next county from Berthoud. It's a longshot, but I'll keep a lookout for that trailer.

Good news! The cops called him last week and said they had found his trailer hooked up to a stolen pickup. He said it was only about 15 miles south so they were pretty bold to run it that close to home. It was pretty beat up for for only being gone a month and they put a fair amount of wear on the tires so they were obviously going places with it. They spray painted the lift cyl a different color and put wood sides on it but the trailer is unique so it still stood out. So apparently they were doing construction by day and thieving by night, the cab of the truck had a bunch of stolen tools in it too. After a few weeks he got a check from the insurance company so I guess he will let them have it and go shopping for a new one that hasn’t been driven like it was stolen. I’m thinking of getting gps for my trailer, mine looks like any other Big Tex dump and wouldn’t stick out at all if it gets stolen. Maybe I should paint it hot pink or something..

Sounds like there may be a chance these clowns will get caught yet.
I did consider the lime green or bright orange. Then went with a textured black, as I did not want to see rust streaks a year or two down the road. Black does not stand out, which is fine in the yard near the house. The textured paint is hard to polish dried wax from, and leaves ghosting. If painted a stand out color I assume thieves would paint it and take it out of state.
I think I'l put two trackers on mine. One in a somewhat obvious place to find.
