Chainsaw for cutting lots of firewood preferably under $300?

I'm in search of a new chainsaw for cutting firewood I cut a mix of hard and softwoods usually whatever falls on somebody's property after storms

Occasionally I get asked to drop small trees in my area but usually nothing more than 8 to 10 inches in diameter and almost always simply cedar trees

For the last 2 years I've used a Chinese 62cc saw with a 20 inch bar Wemars?

One of the options I've been looking at is a factory reconditioned Husqvarna rancher 450 which I can get for about $300

But the 62cc Wemars China saw has performed really well when you consider the amount of abuse that I put it through

Part of me thanks that it might make sense just to get another saw that I know, hell they're only $150 maybe I buy two?

The other part of me thinks there might be some value in getting a higher quality saw even if I have to buy reconditioned

Or maybe some of you guys are using China saws and can speak to that.. any thoughts would be appreciated

You don't really cut much, and from the sounds of it any decent 50cc saw should work just fine. I prefer a husqy or stihl, but echo makes some fine options that are cheaper but quality built.

Sounds like 50-55cc material. If I am not mistaken, the Chinese clone saws such as Farmertec and Holzformma are a better quality saw than the Coocheer type saws. Parts interchange with the real brand. You can get a Stihl 261 clone saw for $251. Something to consider

Find yourself a echo 590 do a muffler mod and retune it and enjoy it will last you a long time if you take care of it and never had a problem with one of them

They are the best value I've seen in a saw and once in a while you will see one on eBay for $300.

Agreed the Echo CS-590 is a great value, but its pretty heavy for what the OP is cutting. I'd go for the 50cc CS-4910. He still has the 20" 62cc for bigger stuff.

A used ms290 or a Husky 460 would be perfect for you. Craigslist or Facebook:Marketplace should find something for you. Check regularly, and they will pop-up at a reasonable price.

I have a Stihl 270C with 18 in bar I would sell ya for $200. I bought it without trying to start it and found I'm too old and puny now days. No idea what shipping would be, tho.

Sounds like just about anything will do the job the Chinese grey market saws are pretty reliable so far for me. But there’s lots of options new farmertec clones or something along those lines(I’d go for a husqvarna 372 or stihl 261 or 362 clone). Or can’t go wrong with something like a homelite XL or Stihl 08s .

I sold a Stihl 026 PRO three years ago for $230, and the guy loves it. He says it always starts and never fails him. Seven years ago I sold an 028 Wood Boss and that guy says the same thing.

Maybe something else comes along or you buy a LW bar, maybe.

If u don't get many trees over 10 inches a decent 40cc saw or bigger would be quite adequate . If u get a fair amount of 20in wood a 50cc saw would do but you would work considerably faster with a fair sized larger saw.
I don't avoid it all together but prefer not to much support China. They have supplied me with quite a bit of junk in the past that ended up costing me more, sometimes much more then if I'd bought name brand proven or reputable guaranteed products usually made somewhere else. Besides that they seem to be killing us off with covid, fentanyl, and who knows what. I assume there is some decent people there but too much from there is hurting us so discretion is my aim when dealing with anything from China and i prefer to support our country and more obvious American friendly countries for the most.

I dont see a point in owning 40cc +/- saw....

It weights the same as 50ccm saw
It has the same size as 50ccm saw
It has aprox 50% less Hp as 50ccm saw
Its price is almost the same as of farmer 50cc saw....
