I have an John Deere 30 (Echo Q300F) on the bench that won't oil, does anyone have any insights as to how I can get this working again?

I've tried adjusting the knob on top, even tried backing the adjuster out completely but without any IPL's to work from I don't know how it is supposed to work.

Hi Mark.

Check your inbox. Likely culprit is a dissolved pickup line in the oil tank. I usually check visually and then fill the tank to the absolute top (above nipple) and see if it picks up then. That series cs-302 has an awkward location for the nipple/line connection inside the tank. I've fashioned up new lines using some larger Tygon and used some crucible style tongs to reach inside the tank and around the "corner" to work the line onto the fitting. The OEM pickup line had a 90 right at the nipple. Check the rings on the pump. The pump nut should be indexed with a punch. From lightly seated turn counter until alignment with stop pin for dial. It should be sitting approx. 3/4 turns out. That is generally max volume range for all Echos using the piston pump from that era. Set the dial on the appropriate side of the stop and counter clockwise from there until the stop again should moderate flow.

I have a CS500 and it's listed at 49CC's, I looked at the CS 590, and it's listed at 59CC's. That power head looks a lot bigger than a 50CC saw?
It's 59cc but a lot of plastic, still probably the best saw for the price for the average guy. I usually run a 24" Oregon and 72lgx081g chain and it pulls great thru oak.

Yea we have a lot of cs400's and 590's I am thinking of getting a 620 or the new 7310 but a dolkita 7900 with full wrap is cheaper than the echo so that's a tough call, I have had no issues with echo over the past 30yrs, one hiccup when I was cutting wood in a river, dealer said water in saw and I was thinking no 💩😂 saw was slightly out of warranty but we had other ones under warranty 30-35$ later saw back up and running and after closer inspection there was a new coil.

Being in the residential tree business, we had no use for them. We had to flush stumps off close to the ground. I have a few now, only because they came on saws I bought.

To be honest, back in the 70's when I started working for my Dad, I had never seen a case. Some of the chipper trucks had a crew/tool compartment behind the cab. Had hooks to hang ropes on and floor space for saws. Dad kept all of his saws in a pick up with a cap.

Yea it's the only cases I like, has enough room for a few things plus a quart of gas and bar oil. When you grab the case everything you need is in it.
