So after getting bit by the chainsaw bug earlier this year, I have acquired a lot of the stihl saws I've been after. Just missed a 395xp last week and starting to research what husky models I'd be interested in. I'm mainly after 70+cc saws.

What models are on your bucket list and why? I'm after a 395xp, 3120, 2100cd, 181se, 288xp.

Thoughts?

You have yourself a wide open gap from 70cc to 81cc there.
Might as well chuck in a 480CD, 281XP and 2101XP if you are going to be collecting and all.
Then you might as well grab the rest of the last of the standard tunes in 372, 385, 390XP's.
That should drain the cheque account sufficiently pre Christmas.

Haha this is true. Although I probably won't be buying all of them in the next week or so. I do like to know what I'm looking for as I comb through marketplace/Craigslist.

True that- but it does not quite make the 70cc cut off line in the sand.
A few cc's under is okay, just don't want a pile of homeowner saws. Already have a 025, 230c and 290 stihl saws, that I don't use often, but won't get rid of either.

Are you collecting just to have some- or trying for the iconic models?
Does forefathers of family groups matter- or just examples of the series?
Saws to run or saws to look pretty on a shelf?

163-263 would be a good one to keep an eye out for.
298's, 1100's as the lesser massed produced cousins of the 2100 (like the 2101 motioned above)

Oh, so it is good enough to own the shonky Stihl homeowner models, but not the Husqvarna ones?
Then yes you need 266XP because it is an iconic model Stihl could not compete with till they invented the 044.

Kinda both. I do gravitate towards the iconic models. I do like learning the history and power races between manufacturers.

Forefathers I would be interested in as well if I knew the history behind them. I generally like decent examples that are runners. No shelf queens here, they all get used from time to time.

😄 the 290 was my first "real saw" I bought at 18 back in 2003. My dad and I went halves on it as I was tired of messing around with old macs and homelites trying to get them to run long enough to cut wood. He's gone now unfortunately.

The 230c came from a friend and the 025 was found at an estate clean out. For what little money I could get for them, I figure it's just as easy to keep them.

Technically you are correct. Can we call it close enough?
Na, we are allowed sub 70's now- as long as they are not crappy ones.
Shame really- I mean what Husqvarna collection can be considered complete if it did not have an example of the mighty Husqvarna 45! :p

I missed out on a 372XPW a while back. Wish I had grabbed it when I had the chance.
Got it 2 days ago 500 delivered it was running but I now have no spark after I broke and replaced the pull cord so gotta go through and look if coils bad or I may have knocked a wire free just been lazy today

😳 😳 Sarcasm? Never owned a 45, and never heard anyone jumping up and down about one either. Now, a 266xp I can get behind!
To the guy collecting saws, either version of the 288xp is a must have. Owning both high and low top would be better.
