I lost my father almost a year ago (1/31/22). He lived a great life and taught me a ton. He was a "quality" guy and wasn't afraid to spend money on quality products. I had the privilege to work with him in a family business for almost 20 years. He left me a small amount of money and he always told me to pick something up after he passed. Yesterday, I purchased a Stihl 500i with a 20" bar. I know the 500i is more than what I need, but I really just wanted to buy the best and not second guess anything. My family has 4-5 acres of woods with a lot of work to be done. I have other bars that I can use with this too, but I'm really liking this 20" setup for now. If you parents are still alive, reach out to them today and tell them that you love them.

When my mother passed,I was lost thinking about life with my parents, both gone. Dad and I cut a lot of wood over the years,so I think of him every time I fire up my saws. Sorry for your loss. Six months after mother passed , I bought my 550 mark 1 to help me do work that I don't do with the big saws anymore.

Why on earth would make a nasty comment like that? What are you thinking?
Nasty? He lost his father.....and now you (and other tree hugers) want him to get attached to things that reminds him of his father....

That way he will never (or at least will take him longer...) get over him.

My advice is that he should take advice(s) from other (hobby) arborist or lumberjacks on this forum....and not so from tree huggers here.

Life happens.....and we have to shuffle trouhg it!

And one day chainsaw gets (unintensionally) straight gassed....or falls appart just because....
Should have kept that comment to yourself, go piss off instead of pissing on another persons personal memorial to their parents memory...thats a real **** move. You should remove that comment and your other comments from this thread.

If you can't figure out why people are irate about your soulless comment, the problem is you. Or you're a troll, in which case the problem is you.

Yup, this saw is like all other saws and isn't immortal - but I can tell you, I'll do my best to make sure it's around. If I ever had to loan a saw to someone, it definitely wouldn't be this one. Any gassing mistake or breakage would be 100% on me.

I still have my grandfathers little Mac 110, and it still runs/cuts despite having been used hard. First saw I ever touched. Also have plenty of spare parts to patch it up, including a new piston. It'll make its way to my grandkids if I have anything to say about it, and assuming I'm still around then :D
