Iam thinking that iam going to pull the trigger on an new 044 stihl and was wondering if there is any kind of recommend break in period on the saws or start it up and let'er rip like your gonna use it for the next 5 years ?

yes ???

Yes run it like i will for the next 5 years just keep it in wood.....and when can i take it out of the wood and use high rpm like in smaller wood or limbs when the rpm is up and not much wood cut ?

I tell customers to run the saw for no more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time then let it cool off for 5 or 10 minutes the first 2 times that it is run. I'm an old RC nut and that seems to help with stabilizing the thermal shock of heating up the cylinder / piston. Also, if there is a small problem, they aren't running three tanks of fuel with a damaged saw and making things much worse. My $0.02
