Looks like we can get chain in 3 different gauges, and a whole pile of chain types.

What advantage/disadvantage is there to a .063 chain vs a .050? Will one out cut the other? Does one last longer?

I'm curious who is using what type chain, and for what. The chipper type seems to work best for me on hardwoods, but both the Husky rep and the Stihl rep highly reccomend the chisel type over the chipper.

While I've used both, and the chisel does seem to cut cleaner and a whisker faster, it also needs more touching up to keep it cutting at its best. Since a lot of the logs get skidded, they end up with dirt on them. The chipper type seems to hold up better in these logs.

I know some of you are running skip chain and I'm also looking for some feed on this as well.

Feed me info oh great saw Gurus:clap:

Thought it might help you decide what would be best for what you want to cut.

Ask any other questions you might have, or do a search. There have been a lot of threads on chain types and uses.

Be safe,

Fred
