Maybe I am being a little stupid here, but I need a tip or a trick for removing the metal ring thingy that surrounds the carb limiter caps on an 029 / MS290. I tried to pluck it out of there with a pick, but I cannot get it to budge. I need to remove the limiter caps to make an adjustment, but can't get that metal piece out of the recess. Anyone have any tips?

You don't remove the metal retainer; it's pressed in.

The limiter caps are extracted by screwing into them, then rotating them so the locking tab lines up with the slot, then a simple pull..

You may need extra lighting and a form of magnification to see when the plastic tabs line up with the slots in the metal ring, I know I do. A gyproc screw works real well and I find sheet metal screws expand the plastic cap too much and they won`t come out through the space allotted, gyproc screws are slimmer at the tip.
