I assume the reason for the break in period is the time it takes to get a better seal for the rings. I have had about 2 gallons through my new saw and I can not say if I really notice any difference in the saw's performance. How long should it normally take? What is the usual pre and post "break in" compression? Thanks in advance :newbie:

It can take some time. You probably won't notice a big difference in power, but the overall performance should improve. Quicker acceleration, easier starting, better fuel economy, and yes a little more power.
