Thanks! The build was a lot of fun and a good learning experience. I want to find a bar for it this week to finish it off. Not sure if I want to run a 36" or 41". Leaning towards a 36".
I had this same thought process the last few days!
Stihl no longer sell the 41” in 3002, I therefore went 36” .404 es.

Hi Guys,

Finally got my first 075 today. I have been chasing one for a while and this one turned up close to me so I jumped on it. It will need a good clean up and pistion replacement but it is all there.

Also needs a muffler and chain cover, but a good friend of mine has some NOS bits for the 075 including a muffler.

I will need some expert advice long the way so as long everyone is ok with it I will keep posting images and question long the way until it's all finished.

Cheers

Justin

Hello everyone, my first post here:

I've been searching for a while on here, but just now finally succeeded in solving the capcha to register. I'd been using an iPad and could not figure out how to slide the graphics into position! Today over lunch, I'm using my work computer; it worked easily.

Will the one-piece gas tank on an 076 Super survive 400F powdercoating temps? Is that tank seam made with an adhesive?

I'm going through this saw and would like to make it look good and perform well. Concerning port timing, I haven't come across numbers offered by others, that are proven to make a positive difference. All advice welcome!. I measure 94.5/117/74 degrees stock (exhaust/transfer/intake).

Why is the exhaust port so high, for a relatively low RPM saw like this?

Thank you.

Isn’t powder just amazing! 👍🏻
It is! Gives me a good sense of accomplishment every time a part comes out of the oven.

I’m still searching for an orange that more closely matches an early 80s Stihl. I’ve been using Prismatic Powder. The 076 Super in the pic has RAL 2009. I also tried RAL 2008, RAL 2001, and have some YAMA ORANGE that I haven’t tried yet.

Have you settled on a specific orange?

The white on the 076 is RAL 7035.

The powder I used I got from Eastwood. The color I can dig up but it will take a couple days as my stuff is in storage. It’s been a couple years since I did it but I was very happy with the color. I’ll look into it.

Just my opinion, but considering the subtle color differences among all the models (and even among the same models) of the era, I'd say you've reached a very acceptable compromise with what you have now.

Looks great. Well done.

Hey guys...I have an opurtunity to by my second 051AV. I have one with electronic ignition, and would like one with points. How can a man identify 051 AV that has points ignition just by visual inspection (via photos)?

I know that air filter cover must have cast letters and I think the serial no. must be bellow 3000000 something.
Whats up with many different recoil covers? Can be identified by that? And can be identified by muffker cover...I know there are some varinats.

THX

There's also a model tag that simply has Electronic scripted below a larger AV.
I know, but some models have cast 051AV and sticker "electronic" that often fall off, so cant be identified if has points ignition or not by just looking at air filter cover.
I thought that might be idetified by gas tank...or there is no rule?
