192tc bogging off idle

it is the original carb
(I tried swapping, and that made it worse) haven't tried cleaning or rebuilding it

tried "sthiltech's" pull cord compression test
saw went down slowly, in spurts - it would hang for a bit, then drop some, hang for a bit, do it again

not sure what that means about compression

don't yet have a compression tester

l finally got a compression tester
it's reading 90psi
which seems rather low
(l tried the tester on a working saw (husky 425) which read 110 - which seemed low to me too?)

but it seems like "lone Wolf" is right
it's the import piston/cylinder....

lesson learned
(l figured they would wear out quickly, but not two days)

I’m thinking you didnt do it right. Your tester probably didn’t seal.
at 90# the saw would drop with little resistance at all when held by the pull cord.
 
seems like the gage is baddont think I'm doing anything wrong
the 192 got to 105 today
l tried two other saws
Ms 130 (starts with 2 pulls runs great) 125psi
husky 435 (runs fine) 110 psi

Was the bar and chain on when you drop tested it? If yes, passing. If not, could be low. Get the muffler off and see what the piston looks like. Pressure and vacuum test. Otherwise it is just a guess.

I'll look again and take a pic

Get a different comp testor.

traded in the comp tester
same results!
so either
a: l can't use a compression tester
b: the one l got from the auto parts store won't work for saws
c: 2 bad ones in a row

did a pull cord comp test with bar and chain removed - no drop

frustrating
 
l noticed the muffler was loose when l took it off to look at the cylinder...

didn't figure that could cause the problem, but thought I'd try it any way

and when l did (with the air filter off) l noticed that the fuel line was sucking air (when l tried to prime it with the bulb)

l had a spare fuel line (it came with the carb that didn't fix the problem)
so l swapped it out and

success!!!
(l think)

it starts and runs and revs like it should
I'll try it for real tomorrow
