27 ton troy built splitter rebuild

Has any one here, or does anyone know if putting a bigger pump and bigger motor on a 27 ton troy built splitter make it any faster? Now its 19 sec cycle time with a 9.5 gpm pump and a 4.5 in cyl, it has a honda 160 on it, i have a brand new 9 hp Briggs, i could put on it , would it handle a bigger pump to up cycle times ?

Shouldn't be any reason a bigger engine and pump wouldn't improve cycle time. 9HP should be able to handle about 16GPM.

A few more thoughts: First, you might try the firewood section with the same question for a little more input.
While the motor and pump upgrade should improve cycle time there are other things to think about. Flow capability of the valve, hose sizes, size of cylinder ports. Some of these won't be easy to address.
Oil tank size...you'll be generating more heat, tank size may become an issue.
