My early D chamber 046 cut much faster in 28" wood than my 066's did. Now when the wood got to 32", the tables were turned. I have both a ported 090 & ported 090g. The 090 will not show its stuff until the wood is 60+ inches and the 090g, until the wood is 72" at the minimum. More power ain't necessarily faster or more betterer.

If the 395 isn't off the table I'd definitely recommend it or a 394xp for grunt.
Looking at your feelings about the other saws I definitely would not recommend a 372xp stock.
Hell guys, my 372 pulls the **** of a 28” bar. Keep in mind, the 372 has been a very popular production saw in the PNW since they hit the market. To me, the 390 feels like a big 372, and the 395 just feels like a boat anchor (a boat anchor with big time low end grunt). I have the big saws and they are resting most of the time!
