390XP rim sprocket

Hello, I recently purchased a 390XP and it came with a 404-7 rim. I want to run a 3/8 chain in bar sizes from 24" to 32". I see Oregon makes rims for this that are 7 and 8 tooth. Which tooth count do I want? Will it affect the driver count of the chain I use?

Standard would be x7... x8 will give you more chain speed with less torque. Chain tensioner will definitely need winding in a bit for the x8 but usually not enough to warrant adding a driver

Bigger, longer bar 24” up a 3/8’’-7 t shorter bar a 3/8”-8 t 16” up.
