I have a 1st generation "Chain Sharp" from Pferd. I don't know that for sure but assume so since it is shaped different than the CS-X version.

Made for 3/8th chain and comes with a 7/32nd file. The packaging indicates it files the rakers to 0.031" below the cutters. Is this normal? I thought the usual standard is 0.025"

I used this on my Dolmar 5100 with Oregon 72LGX chain and it made the saw bog down (18" bar). Would like to try it on my Dolmar 7900 with a 20" bar using Husky x-cut chain. Cutting hardwoods exclusively.

Did some research and found that 0.025" is probably the most common setting, especially for hardwoods but 0.030 is also used frequently - more common with Stihl chain and for use on softwood.

What are most of you guys using?

Any more thoughts on this? I tried it on my dolmar 7900 with a 20" bar and it cut well. A little more "grabby" than normal but generally would not bog the saw down unless I stopped cutting midway through an 18"+ diameter log and then tried to restart in the cut.
