Hi, I've now got two 162se's after picking another spares or repair one up for £67. It's not in bad condition at all really, seems fairly clean. Has a hole in the oil tank which should jb weld ok, and a corroded chain brake handle which I'll be able to repair fairly easily too. It's a twin thin ring model but the cylinder and piston are in really good shape. Everything is there, ok, and original except not sure how original the carb and ignition module is though? Carb doesn't say tillotson on the top cover but it does on the bottom? Also ignition is blue with no manufacturers name on. Does anyone know if they're original or been replaced?

My other 162 is all original, tillotson carb, black sem ignition, but a single thick ring model and the cylinder and piston aren't as good condition. I've already replaced crank seals, fuel line, and rebuilt the carb so was wondering if I can swap the piston and cylinder for the twin ring one and have a really good condition stock 162se? Then fettle the "new" one as a back up/loaner saw.
Someone on another forum has said it's a straight swap as the mahle cylinders on both models are the same so no probs with timings/ignition or carbs. I'm grateful for the reply but just want a second opinion!
Thanks in advance!

A 162 is a 162- swap what you feel you need to- think all mine are twin thin ring, as are most my 630 Jonsereds (same engine), all you have to NOT do is try to run a 48mm Husqvarna 61 piston in them- that does not work good.
You might still be able to get 630/162 48mm Meteor pistons in the UK- nobody has them way down here.

I do not recall seeing a blue ignition in a 162 myself- but then our markets may differ between European and Asia/Pacific.
Carb will be likely genuine and should be an HS-163A or B.

Yes, the open port 61 pistons do not have the required windows cast
into them that the closed port 162 ones have , to feed the fuel to the
top end
