Anybody tried a Hilkoil wood stove water heating loop?

I can describe my system fairly well. Doesn't generate a enormous amount of water, but in the winter I don't have to fire the water heater.
I took two 12 inch long by 1 inch galvanized nipples and with a pair of T's created a heat coil of sorts. I didn't want to mess with a union, so I cut one of the nipples, screwed it together, and then welded it back together. So far, so good. it holds pressure, 3/4 pipe sticks out of the flue pipe, and it is a thermosiphon to the water heater. Fire the stove all day, and there will be some really hot water... well over 120
