Are these dealer sharpened chains OK?

They cut like a hot knife thru butter. The guy who sharpens them is in his 80's and uses a sharpener on a pedestal from the early 50's. Any input would be great if they look good or bad please feel free to chime in.
Brufab, I love your posts but they have classes at the local community college on how to take a good picture... :surprised3:

I have failed at more things than most people, therefore I have learned how to do more things than most people.
Not sure why folks are so afraid to try new things, it's got me in some trouble thru the yrs, but I sure have learned a lot.
As a fellow adventurer, I'd add that we end up with a lot of good stories too! ;)

In other words don’t worry about failing at something , if u never try it u won’t learn from ur mistakes of failing.Yoda
Don't worry about it, it's the keyboard warrior in him that's released by , it isn't the first time.
two or three gulps of beer later

I on the other hand have no "excuse" :popcorn2:.

Same here, I'm not crazy as some have called me lol.
Some I just haven't calculated so well .
Yeah... I've heard that too... Thus far my fails haven't cost me much of anything but time. That's where another term comes in, that being "perseverance." To one particularly obnoxious naysayer in a group I snapped back "Don't judge me by your limitations" and then did what "cannot be done." The worst case scenario was no worse than where we were at so it was worth the risk. 😂

That's what I tell many when they ask if I have ever worked on this or that, its already broken isn't it lol.

And a few free chains. I don't know much on sharpening but I'm thinking the amount of work to get them right again will definitely take some life off them. Here's some of my dealer sharpened chain. 7.50 a loop chain is either. 404 063 or 404 058
Not a very good job, your dealer needs to learn how to sharpen properly. If I did a job like that my customers would tell me to stick them where the sun doesn't shine.

There was no difference in the sharpened chain vs a brand new stihl chain. I did side by side comparison with 2 identical super 754 saws in the same log. Chips and speed were basically identical

I'm not surprised that there wasn't much if any difference, that should tell you something, Stihl chains are not as good as they could be out of the box.
I find that they are not gulleted correctly, ( most chain isn't ) I can sharpen a Stihl chain and get it cutting better than one new out of the box.
I have attached a few pics of how I do it.

I also get better cutting speed than new chain, but I use the 2 in 1 system to do it. Experienced hand filers can do even better, I am sure.

Thanks @ken morgan 🤣 my phone is antiquated to say the least and I can never get good lighting. I'm in no way a tech specialist and the wife is surprised that I do as good as I am 'relatively speaking' on this forum. Everytime I go to show her something on my phone especially pics or videos she usually rolls her eyes and says how long is this gonna take🤣
