This subject should get the debate really humming -

I have always used Oregon/Stihl OM/Husqvarna OM chains and pretty well stuck with OM bars.

Recent poor wear characteristics of an OM bar, has caused me to start looking around for an alternative. Your suggestions will be much appreciated and acted on next time I place an order with my local chain saw shop.

GB or Cannon. Both are top of the line bar companies. I’ve had good life on the forester platinum, but there heavy.

Canon sugihara gb if you want to spend money
Or Tsumura for much less
I have run and have accumulated 30 or 40 tsumura since the 80s
My favorite bar.
But many say they won't hold up to bore cutting
I don't know I don't bore cut.
Price and weight wise
I can get 24" Oregon versacut
The aluminum core lw version
Non replaceable tip bars
For 40.00 shipped on
Amazon sometimes
They have held up fine.

I’ve only used the Stihl ES Light and Tsumura light bars. Both have held up well. The Tsumura is a bit less expensive than the Stihl and I can’t tell the difference. I was lusting after a Cannon Duralite, but couldn’t justify the wait time or the price and went with another ES.
