I made some adirondak chairs out of black locust. It is like a looser grain ironwood. Very hard on steel blades. The person doing the milling was NOT happy as things were going much slower and dulling his blades at a higher rate than expected. Some of it certainly was unruly and twisted and split during drying. That said once dry it is dense and stable. I would be slightly concerned about slivers and bare feet for decking. As outdoor wood though it is really nice as it is tough as nails.
