I've been looking for a builder 372 too. Even decent crankcases are hard to come by. People hold on to those things. Good luck!

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I've got a semi-complete 371/372 I'd let go of. I've installed new bearings, seals/gaskets, new ring, and re-assembled all the parts I have. But, off the top of my head I know it still needs a flywheel/coil, top cover, a/f cover, intake boot (oe), filter horn/filter (xt), and a muffler w/hardware. Also, the crankcase "rib" where the recoil and top cover meet is busted off and the full wrap on it currently is pretty beat, but I have a nice half wrap for it I'll include. The reason the intake boot and filter horns need to be different is because the carb I have is off a 365xt, but aside from that everything is oe. I was gonna rebuild it and use it as a beater/truck saw, but I've lost interest in it. The pictured bar is not for sale, fyi.

They can be pricey and harder to find. Non running 372xp for $400 that’s what I see. Then I see a used clean running 272xp for $1,000. Then if we go through it to make sure it’s dependable.

Fleabay? How about the either completely cleaned & rebuilt or minty NOS 272 for 1500? We're they always this pricey or is it the sign of the times?

Its a sign of the times BB.
People are paying $250,000 dollars for a $125,000 house. And $85,000 for a pick-up truck.
Sad... really sad.

.

They are about. Keep looking. Don't give up hope.

I managed to pick one up over here on eBay UK recently. It was on a buy-it-now and I was lightning quick. Right place, right time. It's missing a few minor screws and parts and has a big hole in the clutch cover, but has good compression with machining marks still on the piston, at least on the exhaust side. It's an XT though. Paid £130 / $180.

It looks to have been used as a firewood saw, or at least without dogs. The crankcase front paint is worn away and it's beat up around the chain catcher. I'm now gathering the bits to put it back into service.

Looking for a 372 with a cooked top end. Want to try my hand at rebuilding a saw.
I have a 365(standard version iirc) that has a fuel leak is all I know of wrong with it. Haven't gotten to it yet, but since my saws ride in the back of my excursion no fuel leaks allowed, only bar oil lol.
300 plus shipping, shipping out your way is probably 65-75 depending on insurance and carrier last I checked.
