Hey all got a question about the chainspeed on the 372 Husky is it alot more than the 268. Reason I am asking is this saw has a hell of a kickback when it thinning I have used the the 268 for years and usually got a decent kickback once in while but this saw usually gives a goood jolt at least once a day. Mainly when cutting brush (manzanita) I am used to it now and expect it now but is there that much more chainspeed on these saws.

Hi FS Burt, the chainspeed of the 372 is about 8 zillion mph. Actually if you compare factory spec engine speed of the 372, 13,500 rpm vs the 268 which is 12,500 isn`t it, the 372 runs about 8% faster, of course that`s out of the cut. But I think the in the cut, loaded speed is proportionately the same. Does what I just said make sense? Russ

14,200 for the 372, but have better power at around 13,800.
most saws power band is around 10,000 in the cut. i think more kickback comes from more power.
